The South African side will be pleased with a massive defensive effort that saw their try-line crossed only once throughout the first day and 42 minutes of rugby.

They will face Spain in their final group match on Saturday, but already secured a semi-final spot.

The opening match against the Jesters, an invitational team, was somewhat of a soft landing to start the tournament, but unfortunately not so for tour captain, Dylan Sage, who took a blow to the head early in the match and had to leave the field with the help of the medical personnel.

He missed their other matches and will not be considered for selection on Saturday.

The Blitzboks had far too much speed and accuracy in their play for the Jesters, with a quick hat-trick by Seabelo Senatla confirming that South Africa's leading try-scorer of all time has not lost his appetite for five pointers in the Blitzbok jumper.

He was replaced early in the second half by Muller du Plessis, who also bagged a brace, proof of the ability of the South African attack to put their fast men into space out wide.

The Biltzboks’ second match, against Hong Kong, was played in a heavy downpour, but that did not dampen their enthusiasm on attack.

The Blitzboks were equally energetic on defence though and overcame an early onslaught from the Asian side with some good tackling.

Rosko Specman laid down the marker on attack with a beautiful run to the line, before some good angled running also saw Du Plessis and Christi Grobbelaar dotting down.

The second half was more of the same, with the bench bringing fresh legs and more tries as the South Africans showed their class.

The match against England was tight in the first half, with Specman and Dan Norton trading tries, but the 7-5 lead soon became a rout in the second half.

The Blitzboks showed no mercy on attack with Specman getting a second, before Senatla and Du lessis raced in.

Justin Geduld had the final say with a try under the poles.
