The Springboks electrified the global stage and stole every headline, with the moment that will forever live in memory: Nelson Mandela, the country's first democratically elected president, handing the Webb Ellis Cup to Springbok captain Francois Pienaar.

And right there, growing in tandem with this momentous occasion, SuperSport as a broadcast corporation was rapidly sprouting its branches, poised to become the leading live sports broadcaster on the globe we know today.

Thirty years later, the Boks are the sport’s greatest champions, while SuperSport stands as Africa’s leading sports broadcaster.

And now, your World of Champions is ready to dive deep into the momentous twin anniversary.

Your World of Champions is commemorating 30 years of world-class broadcasting by letting viewers relive some of sport's most iconic and unifying moments, starting with the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Prepare to be transported back to that electrifying moment of national triumph and unprecedented unity.

Through multiple activities digitally, on air, and on the ground, SuperSport will be celebrating its shared achievements with the reigning rugby world champions through inspiring and interactive initiatives with our most valuable stakeholders – passionate viewers and Springbok fans.

As part of the innovative features of the 30 Years, fans will be able to interact with the campaign in fun and exciting ways through Your World of Champions, SuperSport.

This Springbok international season, SuperSport will bring fans the chance to vote for their best 15 players of the last 30 years - not limited to Rugby World Cup winners - until the ultimate Springbok Dream Team is revealed on Saturday, 22 November 2025. Voting has officially opened.

For 15 weeks during SuperSport's Dream Team campaign, fans will vote for their favourite player per starting position on the rugby field, with debates raging on SuperSport's on-air rugby programmes as well as on our digital and social media platforms.

The Springboks will play 14 confirmed fixtures in 2025, which SuperSport will broadcast live, with the action starting with the Barbarians Test in Cape Town on 28 June and concluding with the end-of-season tour to Europe in November.

The Qatar Airways Cup clash between the Barbarians and the Springboks at DHL Stadium has also seen the release of a number of new blocks of tickets to mark South Africa’s 1995 Rugby World Cup victory, one week before the famous match’s 30th anniversary.

The 15-12 victory over New Zealand 30 years ago will resonate with a flyover by a jumbo jet when the Boks kick off their 2025 season against the fabled BaaBaas, while a “’95 Remembered” category of tickets at R950 has been added to the inventory and is available here – available on the northern and southern ends of the ground.

Said SA Rugby President Mark Alexander: “This year, we mark a moment etched into the soul of our nation – the 30th anniversary of the Springboks’ historic triumph at the 1995 Rugby World Cup. That victory was more than just a sporting milestone; it was a profound national moment of unity, pride and healing.

“In the first year of our democracy, the Springboks became a powerful symbol of what South Africa could be when united by a common purpose. Under the leadership of President Nelson Mandela and the heroics of Francois Pienaar and his team, rugby transformed from a game into a bridge – spanning decades of division and reminding us all of our shared humanity.

“Three decades on, we honour not only the players who lifted the Webb Ellis Cup, but also the enduring legacy of that moment: a vision of a South Africa where diversity is a strength and unity a choice we make every day.”

As South Africans have become accustomed, SuperSport will bring all the Springbok matches this year live on Your World of Champions, with expert analysis from knowledgeable former Springboks such as Jean de Villiers, Hanyane Shimange, Schalk Burger, Victor Matfield, Breyton Paulse, Owen Nkumane and Gcobani Bobo. Fan favourite rugby presenter and anchor Motshidisi Mohono will ensure robust and compelling conversations throughout the season.

The Springboks’ Castle Lager Incoming Series against Italy and Georgia will see plenty of the Springboks' next generation run out at Loftus (5 July), Nelson Mandela Bay (12 July) and Mbombela (19 July). To whet the appetite, SuperSport will bring a fresh new rugby magazine show, with a splice of entertainment, called Bok Friday, premiering Friday, 27 June.

Fans can catch other magazine programmes for top-notch analysis and Dream Team debating during The Selector, Super Rugby (both Mondays), Phaka (Tuesdays), All Access (Tuesdays for 7 weeks), What Goes on Tour (Wednesdays), Final Whistle – Side Entry (Thursdays), and Bok Friday (Special Live Pod Show).

SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha believes the two brands – SuperSport and the Springboks – are synonymous with one another.

“Over our 30 years in broadcast, SuperSport has always made a point to platform rugby and its stars in both innovative and engaging ways,” said Ramovha. “The Springboks have been a focal point in making this a reality. So, to combine the celebration of both our milestones is a natural fit.

“The enduring images of Pienaar in ‘95, John Smit in Paris and Siya Kolisi, back-to-back, lifting world rugby’s most coveted silverware are deeply imbued with SuperSport, thus making the two brands synonymous with one another in the eyes of the world.”

Ramovha added that the last three decades have been momentous for South African sport, with the Boks and SuperSport at the centre of it all: “These year-long celebrations are a reminder of the power of collective efforts to platform, propel, and support South African talent both on and off the field.”

In addition to all the exciting 30-year celebrations, SuperSport will also be commemorating the 1995 Rugby World Cup by airing the Springboks’ entire 95 journey, including the thrilling final against the All Blacks.

These initiatives are sure to be engaging and robust, fostering an exciting atmosphere around South Africa’s greatest unifier – sport, with its most decorated protagonists, the Springboks, and its most trusted broadcaster – Your World of Champions – SuperSport.
