BIO

Makazole Mapimpi is an explosive wing and a world-class finisher who made a try-scoring debut for the Springboks in 2018, and scored South Africa’s first-ever try in a Rugby World Cup final (in Japan in 2019). In 2023, he was a member of the squad that defended the Webb Ellis Cup, although his campaign was cut short due to injury. Mapimpi earned his stripes the hard way through the second-tier Border Rugby Union, but once his talent was recognised by the national selectors, he developed a cult status among South African fans.
