ABOUT
The first edition of the U20 Rugby Championship was held in Australia in 2024, with the up and coming stars of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa doing battle. In 2025, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape played host to the six matches, with New Zealand successfully defending their title, but in 2026, the Junior Boks took the crown after going through the tournament unbeaten.
THE HISTORY
SANZAAR's U20 Rugby Championship started in 2024 and takes place annually in one country, with the U20 sides of South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina facing off against each other. Australia hosted the first tournament and the next two editions took place in South Africa. The competition format is a round robin where all four teams will play each other once across a three-week period. The top team after the three-round, six match tournament is declared the winner.
