The red and black hoops were in ruthless form and if not for some spirited defensive work from the Bulldogs who trailed 45-3 after 46 minutes, the result could have been even bigger.
The win was the Multiure EP Elephants second of the competition and moves them up to fifth on the South section log, just a point behind the fourth placed Cell C Sharks XV, which gives them a shot reaching the competition knock outs, but they will most likely have to win all of their last three games against the Sharks, Western Province and Zimbabwe Academy to do so.
The Bulldogs on the other hand seem to have thrown away all their good early work that saw them beat the Zimbabwe Academy and then challenge Western Province despite going down, with their last two results a 52-0 mauling at the hands of the Boland Cavaliers in East London a week ago followed up by this weekend's equally poor performance.
In the match the PE side got off to a fast start as wing Athenkosi Mayinje dotted down in the first minute and fullback Michael Botha went over in the fifth, with both tearing through the Bulldogs defence to give the hosts a 10-0 lead.
Another quick double score then saw eighthman Zingisa April and flank Rynhardt van Wyk both crash over in the 15th and 17th minutes respectively, with outside centre Ntabeni Dukisa slotting the conversions as they took a 24-0 lead after just 18 minutes.
The Bulldogs then began to find some stability and were rewarded when flyhalf Aphiwe Stemele, who had earlier missed a ninth minute shot at goal, got the visitors on the board with a successful penalty in the 23rd minute.
However the Elephants would go over again as the ever lively Botha scored his second, with Dukisa's conversion giving them a 31-3 lead after 33 minutes which they took into the break.
A breathless start to the second half then saw the Multisure EP Elephants power ahead as first flying Fijian Meli Rokoua broke through the Bulldogs defence to set up April for his second in the 44th minute and Dukisa then scored a try of his own in the 46th, while converting both as they went 45-3 up.
The Bulldogs then finally showed some fight as they defended stoically for over half an hour, but the Elephants would have the final say as replacement forward Diego Williams went over to score the teams eighth try in the 78th minute, with Dukisa's extras sealing a dominant win.
