The side made a strong return to the international arena on Wednesday as they registered a comprehensive 43-0 victory in what marked their first match since the Nations Cup since 2013. And while the former Springbok Women’s prop was pleased with her team’s result, she said she wanted to see more accuracy in the closing match of their Zimbabwe tour on Saturday.

Johannes made four personnel changes to her starting team, with Nonthando Majozi (scrumhalf), Kimberley Horlin (winger), Aneliswe Mxabo (flanker) and Sanelisiwe Charlie (prop) earing starts.

She also made two positional switches, which sees Anastacia Mashiane move from flank to lock and Nompumelelo Mathe move from No 4 to No 5.

The coach named a squad of 24 players, but only eight replacements can be allowed during the game.

Johannes expected a strong challenge from the hosts and said: “The first game proved to be a good physical contest, especially up-front, and credit to Zimbabwe for not giving up and fighting until the end.

“We can certainly take some lessons from that in terms of the physical contest. We need to make our presence felt more, especially at breakdown time, and we need to work better as a unit.”

Johannes added: “Going into this game I would like to see the players stick to the structure for longer periods of time. I also think we can take a step up from the first match, and I would like our tempo and intensity to increase.”
