Apart from including Dupont in the starting team, France head coach Fabien Galthié has opted to retain Anthony Jelonch in the back row, with Francois Cros one of six forwards on the bench.

"We’re always nervous before this kind of match," said Galthié.

"It would be a lie to say there’s no tension. That’s what makes these moments so special. We try to make the most of these moments, live them well together, and move forward with pleasure, joy, happiness and determination."

The match - only the second at a Rugby World Cup between the Boks and Les Bleus - is scheduled to start at 21h00 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

The last time South Africa and France met at a RWC, was in 1995 when the Springboks edged a thrilling semi-final 19-15 in a Durban downpour.
