More about the team
The Springbok Women's Sevens compete at various events around the globe and regained their status as a World Series core team for the 2024 season by winning both World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series tournaments in Stellenbosch in April 2023. The last time they played as a core team, was in the the 2014-15 season. The Bok Women Sevens first played in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, and also competed in the Women's Sevens Challenge Cup in the 2011–12 season. Perennial African champions, they finished 14th at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, the same position the occupied four years later at RWC Sevens on home soil in Cape Town in 2022.
