More about the team
The Springbok Women's Sevens competed as one of the HSBC SVNS core teams in the 2023/24 season after qualifying by winning both Challenger Series tournaments in Stellenbosch in April 2023. They lost their status at the end of the 2024 season but still qualified for and played in the Olympic Games in Paris. In 2025, they finished second in the series of three Challenger events. The previous time they played as a core team on the world circcuit was in the the 2014-15 season. The Bok Women first played in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, and also competed in the Women's Sevens Challenge Cup in the 2011–12 season. Perennial African champions, they finished 14th at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, the same position the occupied four years later at RWC Sevens on home soil in Cape Town in 2022.
