The Vodacom Bulls shone bright over their South African counterparts in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship this past weekend, with the Pretoria outfit being the only of the four franchises to come away with a victory as the competition struck round 14.

A late try by Siviwe Soyizwapi and successful conversion by Dewald Human saved the Springbok Sevens team more blushes at the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, with the converted try moving them past Kenya in the final minute of their playoff at Kai Tak Stadium on Sunday morning (SA time) with a 19-17 victory.

SA Cup

Suzuki Griquas and the Airlink Pumas continued their winning runs in the SA Cup to remain unbeaten after four rounds, while the Toyota Cheetahs and Sanlam Boland Kavaliers secured important victories on Saturday to remain in the race to the semi-finals.

Reaction

Philip Snyman, head coach of the Springbok Sevens team, still believes his squad can beat any other team on the HSBC SVNS, so their ninth-place finish in Hong Kong Sevens was a bitter pill to swallow.
