The 23-year-old fullback scored after coming on for the last 18 minutes of the 48-7 defeat by Italy, and was also a second-half replacement in his team's 63-0 defeat by New Zealand last Tuesday. He is among six changes made by coach Kingsley Jones to the line-up who took on the All Blacks.
Hubert Buydens, Andrew Quattrin and Jake Ilnicki form a completely new front row. Phil Mack comes in at scrum-half, and second-row Kyle Baillie makes his first World Cup appearance after suffering a last-minute leg injury in Canada's World Cup warm-up match against USA on 7 September and missing the Canucks' first two games in Japan.
Star winger DTH Van Der Merwe, who was born in South Africa and moved to Canada when he was 17, makes his 15th World Cup appearance - the most for a Canadian - despite limping badly by the end of the All Blacks game. Van Der Merwe was taken off in the second half but returned to the pitch minutes later, appearing to struggle to walk when his replacement Tyler Paris was taken off with concussion symptoms.
Guiseppe du Toit was flown from Canada after the Italy match as a replacement for Nick Blevins, the centre who suffered a broken jaw during that defeat.
