Tafel Lager Griquas lock Cameron Lindsay scored a try in injury time that levelled the scores, before flyhalf George Whitehead kicked the match-winning conversion.

The men from the Northern Caps deserved the win, even if only for a bigger hunger to get over the line. Chasing a 22-17 halftime score, Tafel Lager Griquas refused to give up and in the lead-up to Lindsay's try and the final conversion had another try ruled out due to a forward pass and knocked the ball on with an open try-line begging.

It was apt that Whitehead kicked the match-winning points as the veteran flyhalf kept the visitors in the hunt, responding to every surge DHL WP showed with good touch finders and his tally of three conversions and three penalty goals was as crucial as the last burst over the line by the visiting pack, with Lindsay amongst a heap of bodies that drove over the line.

Second earlier, following an attacking lineout drive, Griquas' effort was ruled to be held up, but they were playing under advantage and had the luxury of a penalty. The pack tapped and a number of bursts later, Lindsay was over the line.

The home side will have to have a hard look at themselves for allowing the visitors in. They dominated early and hooker JJ Kotze scored six minutes in, following their familiar pack drive from an attacking lineout.

The home side won a lineout 22 meters out and the visitors had no reply once the DHL WP pack got going. Kotze rode the back of the pack like an experienced cowboy and dropped over the line. Tim Swiel converted.

Tafel Lager Griquas responded immediately though. After a penalty, they forced the attacking lineout, but unlike the hosts, sent the ball to the backline. Whitehead chipped over the defending DHL WP line, with a charging fullback Ashlon Davids running onto the ball to score. Whitehead levelled scored 10 minutes in with his opening conversion.

The home side reverted back to sort. After Tafel Lager Griquas managed to stop a  number of lineout drives, another successful one was inevitable and Kotze got a second try 18 minutes in, but this time Swiel's conversion went wide.

Whitehead missed a fairly easy penalty goal in the 20th minute, but made no mistake two minutes later to cut the lead to one point.

Daniel Kasende scored the visitors' second try with a strong run down the blind side. The Griqua wing broke two tackles and after 30 minutes the visitors were in the lead, with Whitehead's conversion extending that to 17-12.

The home side lost Sandi Sazi (prop) for a concussion test and while he was off, his replacement, Lee-Marvin Mazibuko, received a yellow card for cynical play. Despite this misfortune, Province responded with a strong drive and when Griquas went offside, Swiel kicked his first penalty goal of the match.

They continued that momentum and Sergeal Petersen scored just before the buzzer to push his side back into the lead. A Swiel grubber was kicked ahead by Rikus Pretorius and when the centre was halted, the DHL WP fullback continued with the run, dotting down before any cover defenders could get close. Swiel converted for a 22-17 lead at the break.

The second half turned out to be a shoot-out between Swiel and Whitehead. Swiel extended the lead to 25-17 with another penalty goal shortly after the restart and with Mazibuko also returning, DHL WP looked on the up.

Whitehead kicked a long range penalty goal to cut the lead, but another well-struck effort by Swiel extended the lead to eight points again.

The Tafel Lager Griquas comeback started 10 minutes from full-time when Whitehead struck another blow to make it a five point game again.

The visitors dominated the last 10 minutes. They had a try disallowed by the TMO when a Whitehead pass was ruled forward, and then Jeandre Leonard lost the ball from a WP overthrow at the lineout with no one in front of him, and their final lineout drive was held up.

With the buzzer just a memory, the Kimberley side dug deep and when Lindsay stood up, he had a rugby ball in the shape of a diamond in his hand.
