ABOUT

More about the team

The Springbok Women's team first played in 2004. South Africa have appeared in five Women's Rugby World Cup tournaments since their debut at the global showpiece in 2006. After a four-year absence from international rugby, the Springbok Women embarked on their first international tour since the 2014 Rugby World Cup, in November 2018, and played three Tests in the UK. In 2019, the Bok Women qualified for the 2021 RWC in New Zealand, which was played in 2022, and played home Tests against Scotland and Spain. After no rugby in 2020, they returned to the field in two Tests against Kenya in 2021 before embarking on a year-end tour to Europe, and in 2022, they built up to the RWC with Tests against Zimbabwe, Namibia, Japan and Spain. The team steadily improved in the next few years and at the RWC in England in 2025, they qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time ever.
